Final words about the 2017 season and looking forward to 2018

The 11th was our last CSA pick up of the season. The last baskets were heavy with delicious produce. Maybe not as colorful as the summer baskets, but full of seasonal favorites including sweet potatoes Brussels sprouts.

We owe a huge thank you to all of our members for sticking with us throughout the season. Your positive energy and feedback makes farming for you a delight. And we are already signing people up for next season. I know it’s early for a lot of people to think about; the 2018 CSA season doesn’t start until June. But I start planning seed orders, planting maps and rotations now and the more information we have about the size of the CSA, the better we can plan to make next year successful. Which is why this year we are offering a bonus for early commitment: anyone who signs up for the 2018 season by Veterans Day, Nov. 11th, will receive a free Thanksgiving basket this year (pick-up on Nov. 18th, 2017). While we don’t know exactly what will go in the Thanksgiving basket, there are no guarantees in farming, I‘m fairly confident we’ll see things like winter squash, sweet potatoes, fennel, and potentially even parsnips! If you’re interested in joining us, you can find the sign-up sheet HERE.

We have a few different basket and pick-up options next year. We are especially excited to be able to offer a Small Family basket this year-enough food for 1-2 people. Pick-up for this basket is Wednesdays only.

We also have a special Summer Share, 12 week option, as well as our usual 18 week Family Share. Pick-up days for these options are Monday evening or Saturday. We are also considering using the Litchfield market as a potential pick-up sight if there is enough interest. You can still find us at the Litchfield Farmer’s market this fall, Saturdays 10am-1pm at the Litchfield Community Center, 421 Bantam Rd., Litchfield CT.

If you have any questions or suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact us:

Seriously, we want all our current and prospective members to feel like this is your farm, and any input, especially about produce you’d like to see in your baskets, is always appreciated. Even if you’ve mentioned it before, my memory is notoriously bad so remind me; I’m just starting to plan seed orders! We are also happy to give tours to anyone interested, just drop us a line if you’d like to schedule one.

Again, don’t forget to sign up by Veteran’s Day for your free Thanksgiving basket. Keep checking back for updates throughout the fall and winter. There’s always something to do on the farm. Thank you all, especially our CSA members, and have a happy fall!
